Prof. G. G. MKHOYAN Professor Gagik Mkhoyan tragically died at the age of 59 because of a car accident on 16 February 2009 after a brilliant career in anaesthesiology and intensive care medicine in Armenia. He was the President of Armenian Society of Anaesthesiologists and Intensive Care Specialists, the chief specialist in anesthesiology and intensive care medicine of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia, the head of chair of anaesthesiology and intensive care medicine of Yerevan State Medical University. With his passing, we lost one of the brightest personalities of Armenian medical community. He was one of the pioneers of modern anaesthesiology and intensive care medicine in Armenia and made his outstanding contribution to the development of this specialty in our republic. He had friends in many countries and his warm personality enabled him to maintain close personal contacts with anaesthesiologists from professional centres of many countries. He left us as not only a competent doctor, eminent scientist and sensitive teacher; he left us as a man with deep soul, strong, full of energy to live. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. |
